Frequently Ask Questions
Authors
- Prepare your manuscript in Microsoft Word or save as that format from another application.
- Be registered as an author.
- Be sure that your manuscript is in compliance with the journal-specific submission requirements. These are found in the Journal’s Guidelines for Authors in the homepage. Consult the Guide for Authors from the journal homepage directly or use search journals alphabetically.
- Prepare your files in such a manner where identifying details (author names, affiliations, etc.) are in a separate file since the journal undergoes a “double-blind” review process.
- Submit your Article is placed in the upper right corner which can be accessed when you are ready to submit your paper. When submitting your paper, in this interface, it has a progress bar to see if you have completed filling out the necessary documents and information.
- Submitted Articles feature the new and resubmitted papers by the author.
- Articles Under Review features the articles submitted and have been accepted by the Board for review and forwarded to selected reviewers.
- Submit Revisions features the article/paper needed to be resubmitted with justification on the changes based on the comments or recommendations by the reviewers.
- Manuscript with Decision features the decisions of the Board to either accept for publication or if the paper has been rejected.
It's possible that a cover letter will be required along with your submission. Individual journals may have special requirements for the contents of the cover letter, so check the Journal Guidelines for Authors for more information.
A cover letter is a short business letter that introduces your manuscript to a potential Editor. If the Authors' Guide does not indicate what should be included in your cover letter, you might want to include some of the following:
- Specify any particular considerations for the paper (if any).
- A brief description of the research project or how the data was gathered.
- Any earlier or concurrent submissions are listed here.
- It's also a good idea to provide any supporting information to the Editor-in-Chief (e.g. original or confirmatory data, relevance, topicality).
- The proponent may suggest or exclude possible reviewers if the option is not available in the dashboard. The proponent must justify the reason for the inclusion or exclusion of the certain Reviewer.
- Any Conflict of Interest or Permissions information that could be relevant should be brought to the Editor's attention. If any further forms or declarations are necessary, make sure to include them with your submission.
Please keep in mind that once your manuscript is received at CvSU Research Journal, it is deemed to be in its 'final form,' and is ready for review, so double-check it before sending it to the Editor.
- FOR APPROVAL You have completed the submission steps and the article has been submitted to the journal.
- FOR REVIEW As soon as an article is assigned to a journal editor for editing, it receives a unique manuscript number. For most journals, the manuscript number will be emailed to you (when available). Some journals have multiple levels of publishers. Each editor performs an initial evaluation before moving on to the next editor in the chain. The state remains with the processor until a processor invites reviewers.
- ACCEPTED FOR REVIEW Reviewers have been invited and the peer review process is ongoing. There are several factors that affect the time it takes to review, most notably the availability of article reviewers. The time in each peer review varies by journal. Please note that once the full reviews of your submitted article have been received and rated by the editor-in-charge, the status may later be reset to "Under Review" if additional reviews are requested.
- Accepted with Minor Revisions- the Editor has made a decision and requested you to revise your submission with minor changes.
- Accepted with Major Revisions- the Editor has made a decision and requested you to revise your submission with major changes that may be in line with its grammar accuracy, formatting, impact factor, and/or organization of the body.
- REJECTED- the Editor has made a decision to reject your paper. Feedback on as to why the Editor came up with such will be provided in the feedback.
- COMPLETED- the editor has made a final "Accept" and the paper will be sent to the production. At this point, the status of your article changes to "Completed" and no further changes can be made in the Submission Portal.
- Original research paper is a full length article consisting of documentation, discussions of results and findings arising from researches, completed studies and technical achievement in basic or applied research that have not been published elsewhere. A research paper usually consists of 10-30 double spaced typewritten pages of the complete text, figures, illustrations, tables and references. Research articles may also be empirical or conceptual/theoretical as in the fields of education, humanities, social science, psychology, literature and languages.
- Research note/Short communication is a short description of important current research findings or observations made in a limited area of investigation (not a full length article) that warrants immediate publication and are considered urgent. The article contains abstract, body, conclusions/recommendations and literature cited and must not exceed four double spaced typewritten pages. It is important that the author specifies that the article submitted is a research note.
- Case report is a detailed report usually in the field of medicine and health science describing an unusual or novel occurrence of an individual/patient citing the symptoms, signs, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up treatment including demographic profile. This type of report also applies to the fields of education, social science and criminal justice.
- Review article is a narrative paper providing accumulative results of many different articles on a particular topic coherent to the state of the art in its own field. It does not cover original research but provides information about the topic and journal references to the original research. It must have an abstract, introduction and literature cited.
- Methodologies/Methods these article presents a new experimental method , test or procedure. The method described may either be completely new, or may offer a better version of an existing method. This article should describe a demonstrable advance on what is currently available.

REGISTER AND LOGIN
- Registration and Login can be found in the upper right hand corner of the webpage.
- Information such as your name, email address, and affiliation will be asked during registration.
- Once your email address has been registered and verified, you can now login using your registered email address and submit your manuscript.
- Papers submitted should not have been published nor submitted elsewhere. For a paper with more than one author, its publication must be with the consent of all co-authors. A paper cannot be withdrawn after it has been accepted for publication. The article cannot also be published in any form of language without the consent of the copyright holders.
- The authors shall agree to the automatic transfer of the copyright to the Cavite State University and will be required to sign a Copyright Agreement when the paper is accepted for publication. In the event that the author wishes to reproduce or modify parts of the paper, permission from the Cavite State University through the Editor-in Chief must be obtained.
- The primary author/s shall be the person/s with substantial contribution to the paper. Participation includes conceptualization, source of novelty, design, analysis and interpretation of data, drafting and writing of the paper.
- The review usually lasts up to two weeks once assigned reviewers have accepted the invitation to review. But will still depend if the reviewers need more time to assess the submitted manuscript or in the availability of the reviewers.
Reviewers
- Inform editor on receipt of article/manuscript for review.
- Review and critique article/manuscript received. The number of review requests varies according to submission number.
- Provide suggestions and comments for the improvement of the manuscript or article and assess manuscript quality according to established criteria.
- Make recommendations of the manuscript or article as accepted, accepted with minor revision, reconsider after major revision or rejected.
- Return article/ manuscript reviewed together with accomplished reviewer's forms within the timeframe set by the Editor.
- Must maintain anonymity and confidentiality in the review process.
- The Reviewer’s Panel has three (3) different sections. The first section is the Reviewer’s Guide, this provides a guideline on how you can access the manuscript, and the various aspects to assess in a manuscript. This is important especially for those who are new to peer-reviewing.
- The second section is the Manuscript wherein you can download the consolidated zip file of the manuscript or you can also download it individually.
- The third section is the Feedback wherein there are a set of questions with regards to the manuscript as well as open-ended space wherein you can include specific comments and/or suggestions for the author or you can simply upload a document file of your comments. This section also features a feedback space for the Editor if you have any comments and suggestions with regards to the publication.
